Position: Buyer
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Location: Kettering
Proactive currently have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to begin work for a leading manufacturing and production business based in Kettering.
Due to rapid company expansion and an ever growing order book, our client is hoping to recruit at least one additional Buyer to help ensure the quality and accuracy of the site's function is well maintained throughout this new and excited influx of work.
You will be responsible for:
- Purchasing Inbox - Overall management of the Purchasing inbox, ensuring all communications are responded to and acted upon in the correct and professional manner.
- Vehicle Procurement - Overall responsibility for the company's vehicle production requirement, ensuring production always has vehicles available. This includes production /service fleet / stock / sister company vehicles.
- Tier 1 procurement - Overall responsibility for the company's requirement of high value lift components, working with our production planners to ensure components arrive on site as and when required.
- Project builds - Procurement responsibility of the company's "big build" projects, ensuring production has the required components available at all production stages.
- Quotations - Working with engineering team produce specification sheets for component parts to issue to the buying team to send out for tender.
- Price analysis - Working with the Purchasing Manager you will review supplier cost proposal and assist in the best course of action decisions, always ensuring negotiations are always held with the highest quality and the lowest total cost.
- Supplier management - day-to-day management of the company's suppliers, assisting the team with any supply chain issues that occur.
- MRP procurement - Using the company's MRP system to produce PO's and continual promotion of best practices and ensuring this is followed by the entire procurement team.
- PO Requisition process - Overall management and policing of the companies Purchasing Requisition system, promoting the proper compliance and uptake of the procedure and communicating any non-conformities to the relevant departmental management.
- Supply chain communication - A regular review and update of lead times for the company's extensive supply chain, allowing the relevant Sales and Production departments to schedule in accordance with the regularly provided lead times.
Ideal Candidate:
- At least 4 years experience working in a fast paced Buying role.
- MRP experience
- CIPS qualified
- Experience in Automotive industry
- Able to use own initiative and have a good work ethic.
